This 3rd month of the 3rd quarter of 2017 requires us to be vigilant. For our Florida clients who may be submitting an insurance claim, or if you ever find yourself recovering from any insured disaster, beware of scammers with Assignment of Benefits ("AOB") forms to sign.

Also, an insightful New York Times article (thank you Leslie) with additional tips and direct phone numbers to freeze your credit that Meryl discovered when she froze ours. It’s been something we’ve put off doing for too long. Now is the time to act. If you need help, just call us.

Enjoy reading and please let us know of any other topics that will help you to Plan, Achieve and Protect.

Extra Tips to Consider After Equifax Breach

The New York Times sums up what we believe are important extra steps consumers should take in the article Equifax's Instructions Are Confusing. Here's What to Do Now.

What we found important about freezing your credit report:

  • TransUnion (888) 909-8872
  • Experian (888) 397-3742
  • Equifax (800) 685-1111 (very hard to get through now)
  • When calling Innovis (800) 540-2505 listen to the very end to get a confirmation number.
I am paying the typical $10 fee but I may dispute the charges with my credit card company. Also, if you are over 65 no charge for the initial freeze.

Create and/or strengthen your PIN at each agency (make sure the PIN is randomly generated)

Most importantly, schedule an appointment early with us and your CPA to file your upcoming 2017, and even 2018, tax returns as soon as possible.

"For a growing economy, you need investment. For investment, you need risk takers. Risk takers must mitigate that risk, and insurance is what mitigates that risk"  ~ Jeff Atwater, former Chief Financial Officer of Florida
